UPS Field Service Engineer (FSE) / Field Service Engineering

Full-Time | Field-Based (Home-Based with Travel)
About the Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a U.S.-based provider of critical power and technical services supporting mission-critical infrastructure across healthcare, industrial, municipal, and commercial environments.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced UPS Field Service Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in power electronics, commissioning, maintenance, and emergency response, who thrives in field-based roles and customer-facing technical environments.
Position Overview
The UPS Field Service Engineer (FSE) is responsible for applying in-depth technical knowledge of UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, STSs, and related power electronics. This role includes commissioning, startup, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency support at customer sites.
The position is field-based, operating primarily within the assigned region, with occasional national travel.
Key Responsibilities
Perform commissioning-focused design reviews, prepare test procedures and reports, and oversee on-site testing
Execute UPS startup, preventive maintenance, emergency response, and field modifications
Troubleshoot and resolve operational and maintenance issues involving UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, STSs, and related equipment
Coordinate with internal technical support teams to resolve complex system issues
Assist in the development and execution of Methods of Procedure (MOPs)
Complete Field Service Reports accurately and promptly, providing proactive recommendations to clients
Train periodically at company facilities on testing equipment, rebuilding systems, and new technologies
Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service at all client sites
Operate independently with strong initiative while following established safety and technical standards

Job Requirements
Location Preference
Candidate is preferred to live in Atlanta, GA area3–5+ years of relevant field service experience (10+ years preferred)
Strong troubleshooting experience with:
UPS systems
Batteries
PDUs / STSs
Power electronics and control systems
Proficient with hand tools and test equipment for maintenance and repairs.
Strong verbal, written, and customer-facing communication skills
- Ability to work independently with resourcefulness and initiative
- Knowledge of equipment manufacturers’ specifications.
- Physically capable of bending and lifting up to 100 lbs as required.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and be on-call when needed.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
- Prior experience with third-party UPS service providers is a plus.
- OEM factory training or experience with brands such as Emerson/Liebert/Vertiv, APC/MGE/Schneider, or Eaton/Powerware/PDI is required
- A technical degree (e.g., DeVry, Lincoln Tech) is a plus.
- Military veterans with experience in Electrical/Mechanical systems are highly valued (Navy EMN, ETN, MMNs, Army Power Generation, Air Force Power Production, Coast Guard, etc.).
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Primarily regional travel within Atlanta, GA; occasional national travel may be required (not including emergencies).

- Technical degree or trade school background (electrical, mechanical, power systems)
